Sarah Gragg Is Merced College Outstanding Student Of The Month

Sarah Gragg - Outstanding Student of the MonthFebruary 7 , 2005

Sarah Gragg has been named Merced College Outstanding Student for the month of February. Gragg plans to graduate this May with an AA in Liberal Arts, and with a background in singing and acting, she envisions an Academy Award in her future. But for now, Gragg continues to concentrate on her studies and maintain her 3.27 GPA. Susan Kline, Business and Computer Applications instructor who nominated Gragg, states “she is a very bright lady and a pleasure to have in class. Her computer and information literacy research paper was superb!”

Gragg enjoys helping in the community as well and has been working with the Merced College for Kids Program for the past four summers “teaching children the fundamentals of theater and improvisation.” She has been involved with the theater for almost 10 years and would like to attend the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Hollywood to further her acting education. Gragg’s dream is to become famous for her talents and to contribute money towards charities for the research of Parkinson’s Disease and Breast Cancer.

“Sarah has been an excellent employee and a definite asset,” states Janis Tamberi, counselor at Disabled Student Services. “Sarah is required to perform a wide variety of duties and has demonstrated extraordinary patience and exceptional ability to motivate and demand performance from herself and others.”

Sarah’s most recent accomplishments include lead roles in the Playhouse Merced productions of The Taffetas and A Taffeta Christmas. Her Music instructor, Curtis Nelson states that “Sarah is talented, dedicated and focused.” He comments that Sarah has been in voice classes and has shown herself to be “diligent, attentive, hard-working, and teachable. I could always count on her to give her best in both rehearsal and performances.”

Born and raised in Merced, she plays guitar, writes songs, paints, loves animals, and enjoys helping others. When she is not rehearsing for a production or studying, she enjoys watching movies and hanging out with friends.

The administration and faculty of Merced College extend hearty congratulations to Sarah Gragg and wish her a bright and promising future.
