Nate Devine
Head Coach

Nate takes over the head
coaching duties for the Blue
Devils as Head Coach Chris
Pedretti goes on a year long
sabbatical.
Nate returned
to the Blue Devils coaching the
pitchers in
2007, and has had a hand in the
practices and team training. Nate is a native of
Sonora, CA and graduate of
Sonora High School before coming
to Merced College. Graduating
from Merced in 1998 Nate
continued his playing and
academics at the University of LaVerne. In his fourth year he
was selected Team Most
Inspirational player. Nate
received a B.S. degree in
Business Administration from
ULV. His coaching experience
includes four years at ULV while
working on his MBA. He coached
outfielders, hitters and
pitchers. The pitching staff
lead the conference his last two
years, while winning two
conference titles. While
coaching baseball, he is a
full-time Life-Fitness
instructor at MC. Nate currently
lives in the Merced area. |
David Cardoza
Assistant Coach

David is a local who grew up in Los Banos, CA. He
attended Merced College and transferred to Kansas Newman College in
Wichita, KS. He is a former 2nd Team All-Conference selection at
Merced College, and 2nd Team All-District 10 (KS) selection. David’s
coaching experience prior to coming to Merced, includes Los Banos
High School, Pratt Community College (Pratt, KS), and Kansas Newman
College. In his twentieth year here at Merced College Dave works
with the oufielders and batters. Dave and his wife Shannon reside in
Los Banos with their two children. |
Joel
Pedretti
Assistant Coach

Joel joins the Blue Devil
coaching staff after spending
the previous two seasons as the
Volunteer Assistant at Austin Peay State University in
Clarksville, Tennessee, where he
helped lead the Governors to a
conference and conference
tournament championship and a
birth in the Atlanta, GA
Regional where they upset host
Georgia Tech. After playing for
Merced College in 2003-2004 he
transferred to the University of
Oklahoma where he was on two
regional teams and a Super
Regional team that was 5 outs
from reaching the College World
Series. Upon finishing playing,
he was an Assistant coach at
Merced High for two seasons
before moving to Tennessee. Joel
lives in Merced.

Jason
Hague
Assistant Coach

Merced College stolen base
record with 43 stolen bases in
46 attempts, second all-time
batting average with a .430
average, only begins to describe
Jason Hague. The Merced native
played and graduated from Golden
Valley before coming to play for
the Blue Devils. In his career
here he not only set the two
records before mentioned, he was
also 1st Team All-CVC his
freshman year and CVC MVP his
sophomore year. In 2009 he
helped lead the Blue Devils to
the conference championship, and
a school recored 36 wins. He
rounded out his his career by
also being named a California
All-American and Northern
California MVP. Jason finished
his playing career with a
scholarship to Lewis Clark State
University where he played for
the legendary coach Ed Chef.
With
his experience as a player,
Jason spent last year coaching
the Golden Valley JV team. This
year he made the jump to the
intercollegiate level joining
the Blue Devil staff and will be
coaching the outfielders and the
assistant hitting coach.
Jason
is the son of Scott and Tracie
Hague and has sisters Alison,
and Carrie. Both his father
Scott, and uncle Wayne Hague
played ball and coached here at
Merced College. His sister
Alison played two years on the
college softball team.
