Chris Pedretti
Head Coach



Chris Pedretti has been the Blue Devils Head Coach for thirty two of the last thirty three years. Coach Pedretti took the 2012-13 school year off by taking a sabbatical. He returned in 2014, and in this his thirty-second year at the helm of the Blue Devils he is once again fighting for a spot in the State Playoffs. In 2009 he was voted Northern California Coach of the Year. Chris is in a very selective group of former and current CCC baseball coaches by winning over 700 games. Chris is the only current and former Blue Devil Coach with 700 wins in a single sport. His win total now stands at 760. As head coach of the Blue Devils he has won four conference championships including the 2009, and 2011 CVC, made the California Regional playoffs eight times, and has had twenty-two players including former Los Angeles Angels relief pitcher Brian Fuentes, and Detroit Tigers and now Washington Nationals pitcher Doug Fister.

After playing his high school ball at Turlock, he was a member of the ‘76 and ‘77 State Champion teams at MC. In his sophomore year, Chris was named the MVP of the State Division II JC’s. He was also selected to the coaches All-America squad. After playing and graduating from San Jose State, where he was All-League for the Spartans in 1979, he coached a year at SJSU. Chris served as an assistant for the Blue Devils in ‘81 and also spent six months in Italy as a player-coach. He received his teaching credential from Cal State Stanislaus in ‘82 and also served as the coach of Turlock High’s sophomore baseball team. Chris has a Master of Arts Degree in counseling from the University of San Francisco.

He and his wife Michelle have four grown children. His youngest son Tynan has joined Chris on the coaching staff this year.

Nate Devine
Assistant Coach


Nate Devine returns to the Blue Devil dugout for his seventh season (six as assistant coach and one as head coach). During the 2012-13 academic year Head Coach Chris Pedretti went on a sabatical and Nate was made the interim head coach. Nate compiled a 22-14 record and a birth in the Regional Playoffs. He was the sixth head coach of the Blue Devil baseball team. In his seventh year, Nate has over four years experience as the pitching coach for the Blue Devils. He also has four years coaching experience at ULV while working on his MBA. He coached outfielders, hitters and pitchers. The ULV pitching staff lead the conference his last two years, and won two conference titles.

Nate is a native of Sonora, CA and graduate of Sonora High School before coming to Merced College. Graduating from Merced in 1998 Nate continued his playing career and academics at the University of LaVerne. In his fourth year he was selected Team Most Inspirational player. Nate received a B.S. degree in Business Administration from ULV. While coaching baseball, he is a full-time Life-Fitness instructor at MC. Nate currently lives in the Merced area.

Jason Ingraham
Assistant Coach


Jason Ingraham played on the 1997 and 1998 Blue Devil teams. The 1997 team came within a couple of outs of making it to the State Championships losing in the Super Regional Championship game. He is a former 1st Team All-CVC selection, and a two year player at California State University, Stanislaus. He graduated from CSUS with a BA degree in Physical Education. In 2001 he was the Ceres High School freshman coach. He then moved on to Hughson High School from 2002-2004 as an assistant coach, and then up to the intercollegiate level coaching the infield and hitting at CSU Stanislau from 2005 to 2009. Since 2010 Jason has coached on traveling teams, and given private lessons to some of the elite players in the area. Jason will coach the Blue Devil infielders, and act as the hitting coach. Jason and his wife Jasmine live in Turlock with their two small children son Evan (4-years old), and daughter Avery (2-years old).

Tynan Pedretti
Assistant Coach

Tynan is the third Pedretti to play baseball at Merced College having followed his father and older brother Joel. Ty played Shortstop for the Blue Devils in 2010 and 2011 earning 1st Team All-CVC his sophomore year. Ty spent his junior year attending and playing baseball at the University of Hawaii. In 2013 he transfered back to the valley and finished his collegiate baseball career at CSU Stanislaus. The last two springs Ty has coached varsity baseball at Turlock High School. Ty will be the outfield coach and help with the infielders and hitters.

Tynan lives in Merced. His father and mother are Chris and Michelle Pedretti. He has two sisters and one brother Michelle, Alexandria and Joel respectively.


Kevin Ross
Assistant Coach

Kevin is the fifth of five former Blue Devils to be on this years coaching staff. The Atwater native played first base at Merced College in 1996 and 1997. He then transfered to LSU-Shreveport playing first base in 1998. He then transfered back to the valley finished his collegiate playing career at CSU Stanislaus. Prior to an eleven year career with the CHP, he was a substitute teacher and manager for Bank of America. In 200 he coached at CSU-Stanislaus, and has been active in the Atwater Youth Baseball for the past five years.

Kevin and his wife Caren live in Atwater. They have to sons named Kevin Jordan aged nine, and Kennedy aged four.
