Expected student outcomes:  These may not sound exciting or fun, but trust me -- you'll enjoy the class and you'll use what you learn for the rest of your life.

A.                 Create financial goals and formulate a plan to accomplish those goals.

B.                 Prepare a budget, cash flow statement, and balance sheet.

C.                Calculate various types of rate of return when given specific information.

D.                Analyze sources of economic and financial data need for effective financial planning.

E.                 Prepare an individual tax return.

F.                 Develop a spending plan tailored to his/her own situation.

G.                Compare various credit card offerings.

H.                 Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of comparison shopping.

I.                     Analyze the special considerations involved when making a major purchase such as a car or home.

J.                  Analyze various types of auto, medical, disability, and life insurance, and calculate individual needs for same.

K.                 Create a risk management plan for property, health, death and old age.

L.                  Examine and learn how to plan for financial emergencies and economic disruptions.
