PSYC-1A and ENGL-1A Learning Community
"A Psychological Analysis of Literature"

This community is an interdisciplinary collaboration where Psychology 1A and English 1A will examine tpsychological themes in selcted works of literature.

Psychology 01A: Introductory Psychology
Introduction to Psychology is a survey course designed to provide introduction to facts and theories underlying human behavior. Special emphasis is given to the following topics: schools of psychology, physiological factors, sensation, perception, motivation, learning, thinking, emotion, abnormal behavior, personality, heredity, environment, and social factors.

Psychology 01AH: Honors Introductory Psychology
Honors introduction to Psychology is an in-depth survey course designed to provide an introduction to fact and theories underlying human behavior. Special emphasis is given to the following topics: schools of psychology, physiological factors, sensation, perception, motivation, learning, thinking, emotion, abnormal behavior, personality, heredity, environment, and social factors.

Psychology 05: Introduction to Statistics in Psychology
The theory of parametric and nonparametric statistical methods and their application to psychological data. Topics include: descriptive statistics, probability and sampling distributions; statistical inference and power, linear correlation and regression, chi-square; t-tests; and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA). Application of both hand-computation and statistical software printouts to data in a psychology context, including the interpretation of the relevance of the statistical findings

Psychology 22: Human Sexuality
This course explores the spychology of human sexuality. Biological, psycho-social, and socio-cultural research is presented concerning all aspects of human sexuality in contemporary socieity. Specific topics include human development and sexuality, sexual orientation and behavior, contraception and sexually transmitted disease, sexual dysfunction, and prostitution.

Psychology 23: Personality and Social Adjustment
This course examines personality factors as they relate to problems of growth and adjustment. concepts covered in the course are personality development, psychollgocal bases of behavior, mental health, and interpersonal relations. Stress is placed on importance of applying therapeutic principles and techniques in everyday life.

Other courses I teach

Psychology 01B: Introduction to Research Methodology
This course emphasizes psychological theory and a detailed treatment of the scientific method as applied to the study of human behavior. Experimental design, basic assumptions, and limitations and advantages of the experimental method are considered along with an introduction to descriptive and inferential statistics.

Psychology 15: Biological Psychology
Topics include basic neuroanatomy and neurophysiology, research methods in biological psychology, the autonomic and peripheral nervous system; and the physiological mechanisms underling sensation, perception, consciousness, motivation, emotion, learning, memory, and psychological disorders.

Psychology 49: Selected Topics in Psychology
This course is designed to address special topics in Psychology to meet the needs of students. Special topics will include Theories of Personality, Cognitive Psychology, Learning and Memory, Motivation, Behavior Modification, Death and Dying, and Cross-Cultural Psychology.
