COMM 1: INTRODUCTION TO PUBLIC SPEAKING

Communication Studies 1 is dedicated to the basic principles of public speaking. I always give credit to those students who challenge themselves by taking public speaking because it is a fear for so many people. Those who master these skills go on to influencing others through well organized and delivered presentations, whether it be at work or in other classes.

As stated in our course catalog, COMM-01 is designed to instruct students in the fundamentals of preparing and giving speeches in front of audiences. The focus will be informative and persuasive speaking in my class, with an added component on researching topics properly. By the end of this course, students should be speaking confidently and should be able to transfer understanding from the classroom to "real world" situations.
