The
Blue Devil Report - Student Newspaper
April 2011 - The student newspaper has returned! We have a new name, The Blue Devil Report, and new leadership, but we remain committed to delivering important news to Merced College students and staff. Our goal is to keep the campus community informed and up to date on the latest happenings at our college. Now, a little background for those who are unaware: our predecessor, The Blue Devil’s Advocate, was run by journalism classes until 2008, when our journalism professor retired and journalism courses were discontinued. This means that in restarting our paper, it has to function in a different way, namely as a club, the Journalism Club, instead of a course. That means the paper will be run on a volunteer basis by participating club members. We hope to publish one more issue this spring, and then, starting fall, we plan to publish monthly. But, we need the help of the wonderful Merced College student body. This is a newspaper for the students, by the students, and we encourage interested students to volunteer their time for this worthy cause. This is no longer for a specific class, so anyone interested may join the club. If you are interested, please contact the newspaper office 386-6655 or email us at report@mccd.edu. Our newsroom is in Art-3, and we hold weekly club meetings on Wednesdays at noon. Anyone who wants to submit material may email us electronic copy as well at report@mccd.edu. Enjoy the first of what we hope to be many issues to come,
