Fall Trips and Excursions 

NOTE: Due to administrative costs, Community Services will no longer be accepting deposits for trips. Full payment is due at time of reservation to secure your ticket(s).  We are committed to providing trips/excursions for the Merced community, so thank you for your cooperation!

A Day at Apple Hill – Every fall an apple festival takes place as apple growers open their ranches to the public.  Following a delightful tour of the Apple Hill loop, you will be treated to a delicious chicken and apple pie lunch.  You’ll also have time to browse the arts and crafts booths as well as watch apple products being made.  We’ll stop in Placerville for a short stop on the way back to allow time to browse downtown shops and galleries.

Oakland Raiders vs. San Diego Chargers Come join us for a day of Sunday football.  The home of the Oakland Raiders, McAfee Coliseum, provides Raiders fans a memorable setting to watch their favorite team play. The Coliseum's exceptional sight lines and convenient location has played stage to some of the greatest games in Raiders history.

Pacific International Quilt Festival – This annual event is the largest Quilt Festival on the West Coast.  Over 700 quilts and garments will be on display – many competing for prize money.  The Vendor Mall has something for everyone, including quilts, garments, supplies, equipment, and more.

Alcatraz & Fisherman’s Wharf – Visit Alcatraz Island by ferry to explore the historical 12-acre prison, including the actual cell blocks.  Learn the story of Alcatraz, the prison, and life within the cellblock.  After the tour, spend the afternoon exploring San Francisco, Fisherman’s Wharf, Pier 39, and other popular attractions.

Christmas at Union Square, San Francisco – Join us on our traditional holiday trip to Union Square!  Enjoy the festive displays decorations, shop ‘til you drop, and explore the city.  There will be a hospitatliy suite to store your purchases throughout the day.  This trip sells out early!

The Color Purple Musical – Oprah Winfrey presents a soul-stirring musical based on the classic Pulitzer Prize winning novel by Alice Walker and film by Steven Spielberg.  It is the inspiring story of a woman who finds her unique voice in the world.  The Color Purple is a landmark theatrical event, a celebration of love and a Broadway phenomenon featuring a combination of jazz, gospel, and blues.  Time will be allowed for browsing and a no-host lunch in the area prior to the show.
