The MC Transfer Center provides a set of coordinated resources, services, and activities that support the process of transfer to a bachelor's degree program. It is our goal to help students prepare for and make a smooth transition from MC to the university system.

The Merced College Career/Transfer Center is the hub of transfer information at Merced College. The Transfer Center is dedicated to providing the information resources that students need to determine their education goals and to gather information about academic programs. Those resources include:

Transfer Counseling

All MC counselors are prepared to serve students interested in transfer to a university. It is important that you choose a particular counselor with whom you will meet on a regular basis.  In addition to the Transfer Center, the following programs can help you can make an appointment with a counselor:

COUN 80 – Understanding the Transfer Process is designed to enable students to actively participate in planning their educational goals by providing information about the requirements for transferring from a community college to a university. Emphasis will also be on how to choose a transfer university. The course will consist of lecture, guest speakers, and student assignments. Use of college catalogs, printed directories, and the Internet will be necessary to complete assignments (all available in the Transfer Center). The course is transferable to the CSU for one unit of credit and is offered in both full semester and short-course formats. After successful completion of this course, you will be able to:

  1. Use college catalogs, printed directories, the Internet, and Transfer Center resources

  2. Compare and evaluate colleges and universities

  3. Find the current admissions, general education, and major requirements for transfer

  4. Plan your coursework to meet the requirements for transfer

  5. Participate in the university application process

  6. Find information about financial aid, scholarships, housing and other student services

  7. Anticipate what is involved in making the transition to a university
