The Student-Centered CVC Exchange
The CVC Exchange is an innovative tool that allows students currently enrolled in a California Community College to instantly enroll in online courses offered at eligible colleges without filling out a separate application.
Students can be confident they can get the class they need thanks to real-time seat counts. Additionally, financial aid and academic transcripts are automatically transferred between the two schools.
No additional costs
Online courses through CVC Exchange are the same cost as a student’s local college. There are no additional costs to use this service.
How to get started
To get started, students must search for online classes using the CVC Exchange’s search engine, located at cvc.edu. To accommodate a student’s unique needs, courses can be searched by CSU GE, IGETC, substitute course, or keyword. Search results contain both courses eligible for instant enrollment and those that require a separate application.
When you enroll in a class using cvc.edu, you can request to use your financial aid to pay for that class. Once you find a class you are interested in, you will be prompted to sign into your Home College’s online account and agree to several items, including state residency and minimum GPA. After your enrollment is processed, you will be directed to a “congratulations” page where you can select the Request to use Federal Financial Aid option.
Requesting Financial Aid
If you click Request to use Federal Financial Aid, your college will automatically receive your request and they will determine if you are eligible to use financial aid. You must be registered in at least six units at your home college to be eligible. Please note, clicking the request box does not mean you will receive financial aid. It is your responsibility to pay for the course while your college is considering your request for aid. Your college will not submit payment on your behalf and you may be dropped for non-payment by the college offering the course if you do not pay for the course.
Any questions regarding your aid package should be directed to your home college’s financial aid office.
California Promise Grant
If you have a California College Promise Grant, you may be able to use it to cover any classes you enroll in via the CVC Exchange. You will first need to re-apply for the California College Promise Grant by visiting your Exchange Profile Class Schedule. Select the Pay Now button next to your course, and then choose California Promise Grant (CCPG) from the payment options to be directed to the Teaching College’s financial aid application process. As a reminder, the Teaching College is the college teaching the course you found on cvc.edu.
