Accommodation Complaint Process
In the event of discontinued services, the student will be notified in writing, via the Merced College Student e-mail. If the student believes the reason for discontinuing service is not justified or the student is not satisfied with the disability-related academic adjustment provided in a specific course or has problems with a specific professor, the following steps should be taken:
- Contact Disabled Students Program & Services (DSPS). DSPS is available to discuss your complaint and intervene as appropriate.
- If the professor or DSPS is unable to resolve your complaint, you may make an appointment with the DSPS Director, indicating the reason for the appointment. During the appointment be prepared to provide valid reasons for failure to meet student responsibilities, or for the need for further accommodations. If possible, bring evidence or documentation to substantiate the reason(s).
- If, after consulting with the DSPS Director, the student is not satisfied, they may contact the Dean of Student Equity and Success.
- Finally, if the student is not satisfied with the outcome of meeting with the Dean of Student Equity and Success, they may refer to the ADA / 504 Coordinator.
It is the policy of the Merced Community College District to provide an environment free of unlawful discrimination.
