Program Description
The philosophy curriculum stresses analytical reasoning, writing, and oral expression. Students are introduced to a wide range of significant philosophic problems and positions. The study of philosophy has had an historic role in liberal arts education because it develops careful, independent thinking and aids in defining one’s most fundamental values and beliefs. A philosophy major prepares a student for employment in many fields, including teaching, law, medicine, business, the ministry, social work, government, and the fine arts.
