Student Appeal Procedure

If a student has concerns with his/her approved accommodation(s) or the approved accommodation is denied by a professor, the following steps should be taken:

  1. Contact Disabled Students Program & Services (DSPS). DSPS is available to discuss your complaint and intervene as appropriate.
  2. If the professor or DSPS is unable to resolve your complaint, you may make an appointment with the DSPS Director, (Lesher Building Office# 234), voice: (209) 384- 6156, [email protected] indicating the reason for the appointment. During the appointment be prepared to provide valid reasons for failure to meet student responsibilities, or for the need for further accommodations. If possible, bring evidence or documentation to substantiate the reason(s).
  3. If, after consulting with the DSPS Director, the student is not satisfied, they may contact the Dean of Student Equity and Success (Student Union Building Office #120 ), voice: (209) 386-6607, [email protected].
  4. Finally, if the student is not satisfied with the outcome of meeting with the Dean of Student Equity and Success, they may refer to the ADA / 504 Coordinator [email protected].
